Design is a career stream that candidates pursue at undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) or doctorate (PhD) level to become designers. Design as a career is extremely popular among students having a creative flair. What makes design careers even better is that this stream is vast and offers ample opportunities to students with different talents, skills and educational background.

To pursue a design course, no subject is mandatory. This means that candidates from any educational background have the liberty to pursue their dream career if they have the required skills and aptitude.

Candidates can pursue UG, PG and PhD design courses in a range of specialised fields such as

fashion design, interior design, graphic design, web design, textile design, apparel design, jewellery design, industrial design, product design, furniture design,etc..

UG Courses:

Bachelor of Design (B.Des) or B.Design(4yrs)is an established degree in design field at undergraduate level. B.Des degree is a full-time four-year course offered in various specialisations such as Fashion Designing, Interior Designing, Accessory Designing, Textile Designing and much more.

  • Students who have passed Class 12thor equivalent qualifying examination can pursue the B.Des course.
  • Moreover, there is no restriction of stream at 10+2 level therefore; students can pursue the course irrespective of streams i.e. Science, Commerce, Arts and Humanities.

Bachelor of Science in Design (BSc. Design) (3yrs)

It is is a full-time 3-year course offered in various specialisations such as Fashion Designing, Interior Designing, Accessory Designing, Textile Designing etc..

  • Students who have passed Class 12thor equivalent qualifying examination can pursue this course in different specialisations

PG Courses:

The Master of Design (M.Des) is a postgraduate-level degree in the field of design, awarded by higher education institutions around the world. The field of design is of course constantly changing, and careers in design typically call for a combination of personal creativity with professional skills such as project management. Designers are tasked with the challenge of examining and reimagining a huge range of physical objects which we use in all aspects of our daily lives.

Duration of Master of Design [M. Des] is 2 Years.

Candidates should hold a 4 year Bachelor degree/Diploma in Design stream with relevant subjects. However, there is no strict criteria for the relevant subject. Moreover, candidates holding a degree in Architecture and Engineering or an equivalent 4-year degree can also pursue a Master in Design course in relevant specialisation.
